After Meghan and Patrick booked us for their Kindred North Wedding, the first thing we needed to do was shoot their engagement photos. I had mentioned doing a hike at The Buffalo National River and they were instantly on board. After spending 2 plus hours hiking in the heat and taking photos, we were instantly friends. This feeling carried over into their wedding day and made the excitement of being involved that much more special for us.
The Start of the day
Megan and Patrick’s wedding was our first time shooting at Kindred North, and upon showing up, we instantly knew why they chose the venue. All white from floor to ceiling with a magnificent chandelier covered with greenery hung above the dance floor. Add in string lights from front to back and you have a recipe for a beautiful event.
Meghan spent her morning time in the bridal suite getting her hair and makeup done alongside her bridesmaids and mom. Not too far away at a nearby hotel, Patrick was with his groomsmen and dad getting ready as well. While the girls spent a little time dancing, the guys spent their time watching football. But one thing they had in common was they both were full of smiles the entire time.
Ceremony at Mildred B Cooper Memorial Chapel
Since they decided to not do a first look, the first time they would see each other would be when Meghan walked down the aisle. The ceremony took place at the amazing and beautiful Mildred B Copper Memorial Chapel, we thought this was the best decision! If you have never seen Mildred B Copper Chapel, it’s an all-glass chapel with gorgeous arching beams for support. It’s the best way to enjoy a winter wedding with an outdoor feeling while staying out of the cold.
The ceremony took place right as the sun dipped below the horizon which left us with the perfect light to work with. Not only that, but it gave us an opportunity to capture some after dark images at the chapel. With the chapel lit up against the cool blue winter sky, we were able to take some of our favorite images of the entire year.
Kindred North Wedding Reception
From here, we made our way back to Kindred North for the reception. The rest of the night was filled with laughter, dancing, and a ton of celebration. At one point the DJ played a song I had never heard before, and the dance floor went crazy. A circle formed, and everyone took turns doing a special dance through the middle. This dance is unique to the song being played and was absolutely hysterical to watch. Guests of all ages kept hopping through the circle for the entirety of the song.

The most memorable part of the day and why?
The ceremony, because we were in that beautiful chapel right as the sun was just starting to go down, and it was the first time we had all our family and friends that had traveled all together in one spot. Everything that came after was so much fun and a big celebration, but the ceremony was intimate, and loving and felt like the real pinnacle event of everything that we had been planning and waiting for.
Favorite image from the wedding and why?
This is a hard question, guys. I think my favorite is still the image of us backlit against the chapel, as it glowed at night. It’s just so stunning and romantic, and really captured the mood, tone, and feel of what we wanted our wedding to be. It feels like something out of a storybook, or a movie – timeless, and elegant. When we went through our wedding gallery though, there were a lot of other candid photos that I really loved too, because it created such a full sense of what the entire day entailed, even if I didn’t actually witness that particular moment.
If you could do it again, is there anything you would change?
I really wanted snow, but since we can’t control the weather, then nope! Honestly, there were a couple of snags we hit along the way when planning, which in hindsight would have been great to change before they happened, but keeping calm, identifying another option, and letting yourself just roll with it, helped us deal with the stress.
What is something you would like to tell currently engaged couples about wedding planning?
Everyone kept telling us that something was going to go wrong on our wedding day and that was okay. That was great to hear in advance to help us keep in mind that not everything would go exactly right, but that it didn’t matter. It’s not about having a perfect wedding, it’s about having YOUR wedding, and you’ll have a lot more fun and be a lot less stressed if you can accept that something might go wrong without letting it also ruin the day as a whole.
Would you recommend us to another couple? Why or Why Not?
Oh my goodness you guys, is this even a question?! Absolutely. Hands down, without question, we would recommend you. You all create artwork. That was a huge determining factor in choosing you for our wedding. We knew you were capable of taking the standard portrait shots, standard details shots, but that in addition to those, you had the creativity, eye, and talent, to make art. And boy, we were blown away with what you captured!
What is one thing you particularly enjoyed about working with us?
You all made us feel super at ease. You guys have a wonderful working relationship with each other, and with your clients. It’s really nerve-wracking to have professional photos done (at least for us) but during our engagement shoot you made us comfortable and relaxed, and that carried over into the wedding day. Along with that, I think feeling at ease also allowed us to just trust in you and your process and know that you were going to create beautiful images.
What is one thing you think we could be better about?
Y’all I thought about this for a while and really don’t think I can come up with anything. You guys hit your deadlines, you’re open with communication, you make beautiful images – really the whole deal.
Anything else you would like us to know or other coupes to know?
Just another huge thank you for everything that you captured, for our gorgeous wedding album, and for documenting our wedding day!
