We got to know Kennedee way before this Pittsburg Kansas Wedding. She is the owner of The Beauty Bar in Pittsburg, Kansas where a number of our past brides have gotten ready. Nathan and Kennedee have also been guests at several weddings we have shot and she has even been the maid of honor in a past wedding. So we were thrilled, to say the least, to hear from her when it was time to plan her own wedding.
It’s always a pleasure to work with people that have been involved with past weddings. Not only is it great working with people you have a chance to get to know, but it also confirms that they like what you do and the images you create.
Since Kennedee owns and works at The Beauty Bar, it was fitting that this is where things started. While we have shot here multiple times before, it seemed much more sentimental this time around. It was no longer just a salon where people were getting ready, but it was now a place that had meaning. The stylists and make-up artists were more than just hired vendors, they were coworkers and friends, because of this, the entire room had a feeling of excitement.
Sneak downstairs and throw down some Blackjack
Not too far away, Nathan was getting ready at the Kansas Crossing Casino and Hotel. This seems to be a popular getting ready location for Pittsburg Kansas wedding photography. The guys love to sneak downstairs and throw down a $20 on some Blackjack in the middle of getting ready. It’s also a great place to spend the night and hang out with the guys before the big day. While Nathan was getting ready, he had all his groomsmen with him, as well as some family. They joked around, told some stories, and put down a few slices of pizza.
There was laughter, dancing, a little drinking, and a lot of fun
When it came to the wedding ceremony, it was quickly apparent how loved these two people really are. As if this was the party of the year, the line at the door stretched down to the street. This chapel was literally packed to the brim.
After the wedding, we got to hop around town in a party bus to take some portraits and group shots of the bridal party. There was laughter, dancing, a little drinking, and a lot of fun. This quick road trip through Pittsburg, Kansas was just a preview of what was to come for the reception.
Now it was time for the reception, and if there is one thing we have learned while shooting this Pittsburg, Kansas wedding, this couple and their friends knew how to have a good time! And just like the chapel, every seat at The Barn at Timber Cove was filled. The first dances were incredibly sweet, the speeches were emotional, and the dance floor left everyone smiling until it was time to leave.
