May 2nd and 3rd - Little Rock Arkansas
Are you ready to stop taking pictures and start making them? Join Jason Vinson and Jaison Sterling for an intensive, two-day deep dive into the world of creative lighting. Whether you're capturing the quiet intimacy of a wedding or the explosive energy of an athlete, the fundamental challenge remains the same: how do you use light to tell a story that demands attention?
This isn't your average "watch and learn" seminar. This is a hands-on, high-octane workshop designed to tear down the walls between studio precision and on-location adaptability.
Jaison Sterling, the powerhouse behind Rock Town Media, Jaison is the go-to for dynamic, viral sports portraiture. From shooting for ESPN to being a Westcott Top Pro, his expertise lies in high-impact lighting and practical effects like smoke, lasers, and light trails. Jaison doesn't just photograph athletes; he creates "sportraits" that look like they belong on a stadium billboard, and he’s ready to show you the blueprint.
Jason Vinson, a former mechanical engineer turned world-renowned wedding and documentary photographer, Jason is a master of the "how did you get that?" shot. Ranked as the #1 Fearless Photographer in North America, his work is celebrated for its technical ingenuity and emotional depth. A writer for Fstoppers and a DVLOP preset creator, Jason specializes in finding creative solutions in high-pressure, unscripted environments.
Day 1: The Studio Deep Dive. We kick things off in a controlled environment, breaking down the "why" behind every shadow. From mastering off-camera flash to experimenting with unconventional light sources, we’ll show you how to build a world from scratch.
Day 2: The On-Location Challenge. We’re taking the gear out into the real world. Learn how to overpower the sun, utilize ambient light, and find "epic" in the ordinary. You’ll watch live demos and then step behind the lens yourself.
Hands-On Practice
Lecture time is kept lean so that shooting time is maximized. You’ll have dedicated time to get hands-on with all the setups, as well as experiment with your own, all with guidance from Jason and Jaison to ensure you leave with more than just notes—you’ll leave with a transformed skill set and portfolio-worthy practice images.
